How I can help
You’re not a problem to be solved - but there may be patterns worth understanding.
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or struggling to make sense of something that's happened to you. You may also be sitting back and asking yourself what the fock is going on with my whole life.
Together, we can explore what's going on beneath the surface, understand your responses, and find ways forward that make sense for you.
The thinking behind the talking
-
There’s more to your story than your symptoms and some of the following themes are what I focus on with my current clients:
Trauma and its lasting effects - including developmental trauma, complex trauma and experiences that continue to affect your sense of safety.
Domestic and family violence - understanding the effects of coercion, control, difficult relationships and the process of rebuilding.
Anxiety, overwhelm and burnout - exploring stress responses, emotional regulation and the demands of everyday life.
Grief, loss and transitions - making sense of change, uncertainty and experiences of loss.
Identity, self-worth and relationships - exploring familiar patterns, boundaries and your relationship with yourself and others.
-
It means recognising that our experiences can shape how we feel, relate to others and respond to stress, sometimes long after an event has passed.
We work with curiosity, choice and respect for your pace, without assuming everything you're experiencing is trauma-related.
-
My approach is integrative, drawing on trauma-informed cognitive therapies, solution-focused and narrative approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed ideas, somatic awareness and psychoeducation.
Rather than following a fixed formula, we'll explore what makes sense for you, your experiences and what you'd like to work towards.
-
Both! Sometimes we'll explore experiences, emotions and familiar patterns. Other times, we might experiment with practical strategies for managing stress, understanding your nervous system, or responding differently to difficult situations.
I also create personalised resources and exercises you can explore between sessions. There's no homework unless we agree it would be useful!
-
Counselling isn't just about talking. Depending on your needs, interests and goals, we can explore a range of practical, creative and therapeutic approaches, including:
Self-management strategies
Recovery and wellbeing planning
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) exercises and worksheets
Personalised activities and resources to explore between sessions
Psychoeducation and understanding your mind–body responses
Online mental health programs through This Way Up
Referrals and connections with community supports
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
Mindfulness and complementary healing practices
Music-based and creative therapeutic activities
Somatic approaches and body awareness exercises
-
Absolutely, if they're meaningful to you.
Our work can include creative exploration, mindfulness, body awareness or conversations about personal beliefs and spirituality. These are optional and can sit alongside established counselling approaches.
There's room for curiosity, and you don't need to subscribe to any particular philosophy.
-
Perhaps a better understanding of yourself. A different relationship with difficult emotions. More confidence in setting boundaries, recognising patterns or navigating relationships.
Sometimes the changes are subtle. Sometimes they're significant. The aim isn't to become a different person, but to find ways of living that feel more manageable, connected and meaningful.
Shall we have a natter?
You don't need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.
